STEM club is a fun after-school program that is all about science, technology, engineering, and math. We have many fun fieldtrips and guest speakers, including an architect, an engineer, principals, professors, and the superintendent of Mead schools, Dr. Rockefeller.
We also do fun little experiments. Once Mr. Gamon brought in liquid nitrogen! Everyone got to eat a chip that had been dipped into it. We also were able to compete in a statewide competition called School of the Future.
STEM Club’s School of the Future Project was split up into technical teams: Architecture, Athletics, Information/Technology, Energy, Academics, and Community. In STEM club, our teams all helped to design and present a future Northwood.
The final project included a prezi, a physical model of the school, architectural floor plans, and a written presentation. This year we’ve decided on an x shaped school with artificial turf on an accessible roof! We placed 2nd at State and had an incredible experience.
