Academic Support

We have multiple academic supports for struggling students, or those who just need a little boost to get their grades up.

  1. Email or call your child's teacher first. They may have suggestions of what might work best for your student.
  2. Access Time is held at Northwood twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a 1/2 hour carved out of the day where students go to a specific teacher for help, or to make up missing work. This method has been very effective in getting students caught up when they miss assignments.
  3. Homework Club is offered on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:45 in room 209. This is run by a certificated teacher who can help your child with difficult concepts and give them guidance on how to get missing work turned in.
  4. National Honor Society tutors are available at Mt. Spokane High School on Monday and Wednesday from 2:40 to 4:00 in the Student Services office across from the main office.
  5. Boys and Girls Club meets at the Pittsburgh Learning Center (Old Northwood). Check their website for registration and availability.
